Last year my roommate was in the NASA rocket competition so I followed him to the launch with my Little. It went very well and we have been to a couple launches since then. In fact it's been a godsend to me because it removes a lot of the burden of activity planning from me.
I think it would be great to have a day to encourage other Bigs to come out for a Tripoli launch sometime this summer. I think June or July would be ideal. I mentioned this to my caseworker and she thought it sounded great. Now I need to find out who I need to talk to to get this to happen.
I figure there's three groups involved here. Tripoli, BBBS and the park rangers. I don't really think that much would have to be done by you folks at Tripoli beyond what you already do. Just give the kids a lot of cool rockets to watch. And the park is used to having people so most of the planning would be done by the BBBS people.

So I would like to find out who I should talk to at Tripoli to make sure that this is OK with the club and perhaps point me to the ranger I need to talk to to make sure we take care of everything we need to with Bong.

I regret to say I can't make it to the launch next weekend because of prior commitments but my Little and I should have a nice time building a rocket for the March launch and we will definitely be there.

You have a few options along with TWA, there's also the local NAR org, http://www.wooshrocketry.org/ .
I am sure that they would be welcoming as well. WOOSH launches at Bong, as well as models at a sod farm close to Milwaukee. Also, your county 4H may have a rocketry project.
