The Nike Corona two stage rocket flew perfectly at LDRS 24 in Alberta. The rocket lifted off at 9 pm just as the waiver was to expire Friday July 15th. It was an amazing flight. The rocket took off on CTI N-2500 and staged to a CTI M-1400. Right after the N-2500 burned out the stages separated (via a 2.5 g black powder charge). Two seconds later the M-1400 came up to pressure and pushed the sustainer to 15,845 feet. Unfortunately, the shear pins in the sustainer broke and the main chute deployed at apogee causing the sustainer to drift over 8 miles (it was windy aloft). The sustainer was recovered at 11:45 pm that night (thank you Rocket Hunter)! The rocket sustained no damage and will fly again at LDRS 25. The on board video is incredible!!!
